Question Answered: When Are You Coming to Philly? (Or Your Town)

It's that same old question that every musician hears, “When are you coming to Philly?  Seattle?  Chicago?”  Or “Maine”?  I wish I knew, or could answer that question.

The top priority in my life right now is parenthood.  I'm not touring much.  However, that does not mean that I won't come play music for you.  It means I need a gig if I am to do it.

I am currently booking shows for 2012.  Sherwood Forest Faire is all lined up.  I sent my CD to North Texas Irish Festival.  I'm organizing my next Celtic Invasion Vacation.  I'm already planning for DragonCon, Starfest and GenCon.  I hope I'll be back to I-Con in New York.  I'm also trying to set up some new gigs locally, but I haven't booked pubs, restaurants, or coffee houses in a long time.  Booking is no easy task for me.

As a result, my calendar is still mostly open.  I have plenty of space for gigs.  The tough thing is to book 'em.  That's why I always ask fans to start the wheel a-rolling.  Email, call or talk to someone at the event you'd like to see me at.  Let them know you want to see me perform.  Then tell your friends and fellow Gunn Runners to do the same.

I still remember many years ago when the Brobdingnagian Bards were playing a simple pub gig.  We were about to head to the Lord of the Rings Oscar Party in Los Angeles.  Hagar, a Nagian extraordinaire, contacted the local news, and we were interviewed and had a great feature on TV.  One fan can make a Huge impact!

I don't think I can play Philly next year.  But if you start telling others about my music, that festival you want to see me at will know who I am when I finally come knocking at their door.
