Sci Fi Drinking Songs Album Cover and Off to the Printers

Sci Fi Drinking Songs

I am happy to announce that Sci Fi Drinking Songs is done. I sent it off to the printers this morning. Right now, it is scheduled to arrive by about July 10th. Then I will start mailing CDs to everyone who pre-ordered them starting with those who did so for Scottish Songs of Drinking & Rebellion.

Above is the album cover. I don't remember if I shared it yet. It was designed by my friend Nikki O'Shea who also designed the covers for What Color Is Your Dragon? and Don't Go Drinking With Hobbits. She also publishes The Bards Comic which features an comic version of me and other awesome musicians like Samantha Gillogly.

The idea for the cover was based on Edward Hopper's painting called “Nighthawks“. It features a few people in an empty diner. Admittedly, I didn't remember the original painting when I asked Nikki to create this cover. I was remembering Gottfried Helnwein's painting “Boulevard of Broken Dreams“, which replaces those diner characters with Marilyn Monroe, James Dean, Humphrey Bogart and Elvis Presley.

My version album from right to left features me, an elf, The Doctor, a Jedi and Jayne Cobb with a zombie outside the front door. When you see the back cover, you'll also Shaun from Shaun of the Dead walking with the zombies.

Here's the Sci Fi Drinking Songs original idea that I sent to Nikki :

Kilted man, doctor who, hobbit, elf, Vulcan, browncoat, Jedi, zombie and Jayne sitting in a cheers style pub. Ala that cafe with James dean painting. Zombies outside trying to get in.

Didn't Nikki to a great job!

Make sure you open  your album up so you can see the full piece of art when it comes in.

And again thanks for all your support.

Slainte!
