I got an email earlier this evening that the Kickstarter was ready to be launched.
What a feeling…
It's not a great feeling. It's scared feeling. Admittedly, their Launch page didn't help. They list all of the things you should do BEFORE you launch. You know, like make a plan.
I guess I have one of those. Emails. Podcasts. Videos. Ye know, the usual.
Then they recommend blogs and media people.
Whoa! Wait one sec there peoples!!!
That's NOT a thing! Is it?
It's funny how damaged I feel by the media. No. I'm not talking about current news.
In 1999-2000, I was desperate to get a review for the Brobdingnagian Bards debut CD, Marked By Great Size. One of my big goals was a big folk music publication. It was THE magazine…. and I can't even remember its name.
But I spent a lot of time, emailing and writing and trying to get a review.
It finally came. It was like 5 short sentences and rated 2.5 out of 5 stars. I guess that's not horrible. In retrospect. But at the time, I was broken-hearted!
That's it?!?! All my work for that crappy, mediocre review>!?
I was hurt and angry. Ye know how it is when you put your heart into something and find it broken. We've all been there.
But BECAUSE of that one lousy review, I launched my Celtic Music Empire. LOL
I decided I didn't NEED to wait for someone else. I didn't NEED a gatekeeper. I could BE the gatekeeper. I could do what I needed to do. And I would.
Thus was born the Celtic Music Magazine and later the Irish & Celtic Music Podcast.
Yes. I seek that attention. It's one of the reasons I make music. I want to be recognized. I want to be lauded. Boy, wouldn't it be nice if I didn't have to do it myself.
But that's kind of how things are in life. If you want something, you have to go after it. You have to keep at it, persistently, until you achieve your goals.
So now, I need to raise AT LEAST $5000 to fund this album, to get new Celtic songs, and Firefly songs funded, to create a project that is as much HEART as it is music.
Selcouth is an experience. I hope you will be a part of it.
Thank you!
