Self-Employed? Musician? Artists? Have You Heard of Square?

Square is the savior of the self-employed.

I don't remember where I first heard of Square.  It was about two or three years ago.  The website promised they would send you a square credit card reader for you cellphone… for free.  It also promised to charge a small percentage (2.75%) of transactions.  That's it.  There were no additional fees.  It sounded too good to be true.  But I bookmarked it.

Earlier this year at Sherwood Forest Faire, every musician there had it.  It was as good as Square promised.  No longer does an indie musician need to get a credit card account with their bank with $200 in setup fees, a higher percentage rate of charges and cancellation fees that will bankrupt you.

Square is the new economy.  It's internet based.  It costs nothing to sign up.  You keep most of the money.  It's simple and easy to use.

If you are self-employed, a musician or artist, there's no reason for you not to sign up to Square.  The company is changing the way we do business.
