I am so ready to kick this year off with a bang. 2015 will be my best year yet!
I have more songs than ever that are just incredibly fun and filled with happiness. Songs that make your face glow. Songs that bring tears to your eyes. Songs that are downright funny. I want to share my passion with you.
HOWEVER, I need your help before I even schedule the show.
That's where you come in. Please take a couple minutes to answer this super short survey in my blog. There's really just two questions:
1. What are two songs that I absolutely MUST play to make this the best concert ever?
2. What are your top 2 questions about my music that absolutely NEED to be answered.
1. So tough. I love everything. I like the Airship song, even though it’s not yours, and all the Lord of the Rings stuff. Not that I guess it helps much…
2. Questions… Are you willing to travel to more cons to perform? Are your new projects trending more nerd/comedy or celtic/trad?
I’ve been neglecting my podcasts for a bit so you might have already covered this stuff. Diving back into podcasts this week so I can stop eating up my cell data streaming Pandora.
My favorite songs to hear you sing are Health to the Company and Wild Mountain Thyme.
#1. When / how can we get your back to NY in the near future?
#2. Can we expect an adorable Father / Daughter duet in the future?
1. “The Lolly Song!” Still. I still like your originals better than your covers, Ichabod. But that may be just me…
2.1. When are you going to re-record “The Lolly Song?” (Sorry. Dead horses getting beaten and all that.)
2.2. What is your opinion of the future of the celtic/filk music market?
1. Anything Hobbity is always welcome in my world, and I think I have an addiction to “Come Take a Ride in My Airship.”
2. Are you playing Dallas/Ft. Worth anytime in the future that you know of, and when are the scheduled release dates of your next albums? You keep us in the loop very well, so I imagine these questions will be answered in the fullness of time.
Looking forward to the new year! Thanks in advance for all of it!
1. The Mining Ship the Red Dwarf and Old Fenian Gun are two of my personal favorites. MSRD, for the parody and OFG for its traditional sound and story telling.
2. What is some advice you would give to older people (30 plus) trying to start in music? (No necessarily professionally.)
What, in layman’s terms, is FILK?
And if I can sneak in a third one:
What keeps you going so strong in the music field?
I have no choices. You will do best what you enjoy the most! You never disappoint.
What ever you play as long as you are having fun that’s the important part of music that seams to have been forgotten in a lot of music, so have fun and it will all be great.
I love the Jedi Drinking song and all of your si-fi songs. They are such fun. However as previously pointed out -you never dissapoint-all your music is very enjoyable particularly those you have written yourself.
1) “The Mingulay Boat Song” and “Lord of the Pounce”
2) Do you play any instruments besides the autoharp? Any chance you’re coming to Ohio any time soon (There’s an awesome Rennfaire near Cincinnati every year in October)?
Two songs:
Slow waltz:
The Water is Wide
Fast – moderate:
One of your songs about cats~
Two questions:
How many professional musicians play autoharp as their primary instrument?
How many songs about cats have you written (including paradies et al)?
I like about 95% of your music.. the other 5 % is for the songs that are mostly screaming & yelling Love cat songs, Hobbit songs Filk songs some traditional songs. prefer the happier tunes. Airship is good. dragon songs when possible are extra good ( due to special times you can sing them). Understand that Texas is far away but REALLY ENJOY the inperson concerts… ) please continue doing the concert window (?) programs… ok am going over as usual.
You have so many wonderful songs and my answers depend on the day and my mood. But today… Lord of the Pounce and the Hobbit Drinking song. š
1. Pounce & McIntyre (Melanie) / Take a Ride on my Airship (Scott). Ok that was three
2. a. (stealing a question from above), Layman’s description of Filk
b. Have you every had any Firefly cast members in your audience
1. I don’t know if you even have any of their stuff but Auld Triangle by “Mick On The Gate” would be great. They’re out of Dublin, I think.
2. Why do you not play any other instruments. The Auto Harp is nice but I could see you playing the Hammered Dulcimer as well. Can you do it?
2 (continued)When are you coming to the Central Coast (Santa Barbara area) of California for a concert?
Here is what Wikipedia has to say about Filk :
Filk music is both a musical culture, genre, and community tied to science fiction/fantasy fandom and a type of fan labor. The genre has been active since the early 1950s, and played primarily since the mid-1970s. The term (originally a typographical error) predates 1955.
Re 1st: I love all the songs you do but wild moutain tyme. And some of the more traditional Celtic music.
Re 2nd: I live in Canada and am wondering if you would do a festival here.
1. Rattlin Bog & any Lord of the Rings song
2. a. (from River Godbee) What is some advice you would give to older people (30 plus) trying to start in music?
b. Can you work out an arrangement with Piper EJ Jones? The two of you would make my Celtic music dream team!
1)Doctor of Galifrey and Browncoats Keep Flyin’
2)a. What first got you into Celtic Music?
b. Any chance of a couple songs based off the Marvel Movie Universe?
2 Songs
Kilkelly, Ireland
Peggy Gordon
When are you coming to the Seattle?
Have you considered an album of just sea shanties?
Johnny Jump Up!
Kilkenny
Song 1: Old Fenian Gun; Song 2: Henry Martin
Question 1: Are you coming back to Georgia Renfest 2015?(Missed you last year.)
Question 2: A lot of your songs are “story songs” that engage the audience, and since that’s the case, current sociopolitical humor can be tossed in easily. Would you ever consider throwing in a couple of funny political or current event parodies?
Oh! How can you make us choose!?! That is just so cruel of you! All of your songs are wonderful! We loved seeing you here in Memphis. I hope you are coming back—-P L E A S E!!!!!
So here is my list, I mean my 2 songs.
1.The Airship one from 1914(?) and all the rest of your original songs–big hint on the Monster lullaby.

You’re a wonderful person and I wish the best for you and your family in the upcoming year. Nothing but the best! Blessings of wealth in all forms!

Questions
1.beyond support systems like patreon and such what can I do to help promote your music? (something more specific than tell other people, please)
2. How did you get into the music industry and get to where you are i.e. how did you become “The Celtfather”
š Happy New Years everyone Cheers!
