Sherwood Celtic Music Festival is just a week and a half away. I'm getting excited. It's a big weekend. I get to visit family and friends. That's awesome, but I also get to play music!
I love that I get paid vacations… I mean work. It's ALL work. I don't enjoy that at all… No really….
This is the second year of the Celtic festival. It debuted a year ago. It's located an hour outside of Austin in Paige, Texas, the same place as the Sherwood Forest Faire.
I hear thy were blown away last year. They sold out of beer and even water thanks to some amazing attendance numbers. They will be better prepared this year.
I can't help but be amazed by this festival. 2012 was the third year of the Renaissance festival. The site looks like its been there ten years. The attendance continues to astonish everyone. And then to host a Celtic festival just outside of Austin, Texas, the live music capitol of the world, and to still have an amazing number of people. There are usually some big events happening that weekend. And Sherwood successfully competed with those events. Wow!
Show times for Marc Gunn & Jamie Haeuser
First off, I'm pleased to announce that Jamie Haeuser, my partner with Gunns & Drums, will also join me on stage for my shows at the Celtic festival. We have three shows a day at the Horseman Stage. So there should be plenty of chances to hear your favorite songs.
Is there something in particular you want to hear?
Post it in the comments. Right now, I don't have a cat specific show like I do at the Renaissance festival, but hey, if enough of you are ravenously interested in it, I might make that happen too. Otherwise, it'll be a generous mix of traditional Irish and Scottish favorites with some geekiness thrown in for good measure.
Look for Jamie and me on the Horseman Stage at 12:00pm, 3:00pm, and 5:00pm
Brobdingnagian Bards Reunion
The other awesome thing about this weekend is the reunion of the Brobdingnagian Bards. Andrew and I officially parted ways as a music group in 2008. We did one reunion at DragonCon a year later. But many, many Texas Nagians complained that they missed the show.
So when Zane, Entertainment Director of the Sherwood Celtic Music Festival asked me to perform at the festival (another big Bards fan), I thought, “Wouldn't it be awesome if we did a Brobdingnagian Bards reunion as well?” I talked to Andrew. He agreed. I talked to Zane. And Voila!!!!
We're performing on the Vineyard Stage at 1:30pm on both days.
Yup. There's only one show per day. So if you want to catch us in our Bardicness, then don't miss that one show.
There ye have it. I look forward to seeing you at the festival. Slainte!
Breathe. Smile. Laugh more. Celtic music is freedom!
