One of the first things I heard about the new Outlander TV series from Starz is that it features the “Skye Boat Song“. I believe this is the theme song for Outlander though with a slight modification. I've loved this song for so long I don't even remember where I first heard it. But it is incredible.
I love it so much that I recorded it on two of my CDs, first with the Brobdingnagian Bards on our album Real Men Wear Kilts, and then on my latest album Scottish Songs of Drinking & Rebellion.
My latest recording of “Skye Boat Song” topped the charts on Reverbnation several times. Now it's back at the top which I can only assume means that people are loving Outlander. The book was fantastic (I listened on Audiobook). One of these days I'll get to actually see the show.
I hope you enjoy this recording as much as I do. This is from Scottish Songs of Drinking & Rebellion. You can find the lyric and chords for “Skye Boat Song” here. Buy it on iTunes.
I’ve been meaning to ask–is there still a way to get a physical copy of Scottish Songs of Drinking & Rebellion, or are they all gone? Thanks for the help!
Yup. Go here: http://celticmusic.org/ScottishSongs
