Whenever you post on social media, there is a chance you will encounter trolls. Hopefully, you ignore them and don’t become one.
A troll is someone who belittles your opinions, insults you, and treats you with disrespect.
Some trolls these days come from Russia. Most are your friends.
It’s sad to think a friend would publicly insult you. But that’s the thing. Most aren’t real friends. They are trolls.
You encounter them more often when you run a business. But nothing is more shocking than when it comes from a “fan”.
A few weeks back, I was subjected to my own troll “fan”. Their comments were so insulting, I was pretty certain they were coming from Russia, or possibly someone following a hashtag on Instagram.
But no… The conversation ended with “I like your music.”
I’ll be honest before that last comment, I was being pretty nasty. I couldn’t imagine someone who says they like my music to actually treat me with such disdain.
It got me thinking how I want to conduct myself online in this savage troll-centric world?
With kindness and understanding.
Well…as long as they are respectful.
If not, block ‘em and delete the comment.
I don’t want to lower myself to the level of trolls.
Unless they are Arr and Tarr. There’s some fine upstanding trolls.
