Marc Gunn is a rhythm and folk musician inspired by Celtic culture, science fiction, fantasy, and cats. Marc's Musings

A day before I released my Kickstarter for my next album, Sci Fi Drinking Songs, a friend asked me, "Do you think you are oversaturating your audience by doing another Kickstarter campaign?"

I didn't hesitate to respond, "No." If it was anyone else, then I'd say, "yes", but not for me.

Most bands release one album a year if they are lucky. Since I went solo in 2009, I have consistently released a minimum of one, but more like 2-4 albums per year.

Fast foward five years. Everyone knows I release a lot of music. I'm not a one album a year kind of guy. You expect me to release more than one. You also realize that the only reason I can do that is because YOU are willing to support my crazy recording schedule. It's like you and I are co-conspirators to release more Celtic Geek music into the world.

Because of that, I knew I would easily reach my $1200 goal for Sci Fi Drinking Songs. What I didn't expect was that I would double that goal in just five days.

And yet, here I am, once again, blown away and humbled by how awesome you are and that I can continue to fulfill my musical dreams and aspirations through your generosity.

Since I was unprepared for these incredible donations, I hadn't thought at ALL about stretch goals or anything like that. So I am now planning the next stage in my campaign. Stay tuned because I have finally come up with a couple ideas to offer, dare I say, even more music through your donations. Those details will come soon.

In the meantime, enjoy a...

The song that inspired this album... and a whole slew of musical projects was a song called "Jedi Drinking Song". It was written by Jon Ryan. The Brobdingnagian Bards, my old band, recorded it on our CD Brobdingnagian Fairy Tales in 2005.

Since then, it has become nearly legendary among Celts and Geeks. So much so that this song will NOT be on the new CD. Instead, I'm releasing an original (co-written with Andrew McKee) song called "Jedi Drinking Song Prequel". I hope to share some of the music from Sci Fi Drinking Songs in the days to come, but in the meantime, I want you to have a free copy of "Jedi Drinking Song", the Bards recording that started it all.

Download it. Listen to it. Enjoy. And if you love it, but the CD. This album actually hit #1 on CD Baby! That's no lilliputian feat!
