Hey

First, I want to thank you for subscribing to my newsletter. This is the absolutely best way to quickly find out what's going on with my music.

I have big plans now that I'm back from swimming and splashing around in the small, ocean waves at the beach with my family. Vacation is officially over. Now I have a CD to promote, an internet concert scheduled, two of my biggest shows of the year approaching, and a "new" autoharp. There are also a few secrets up my sleeve. But you'll have to wait for those!

1. "New" Autoharp

Last Fall, I was given an autoharp by a friend at the Louisiana Renaissance Festival. The body was in great condition. I haven't had one this good in years. Normally, I took my autoharps to Walter Hutchinson at Musical Exchange in Austin. He was my autoharp repair guy. But I left Austin years ago, and I think he has since passed away.

And so... while I was at the beach, my father-in-law and I transferred my old autoharp chord bars and pickup to the new bionic autoharp.

The transfer went smooth. And the sound... ahhhhhh. It's like pure heaven... like new again.

The "new" autoharp will make its debut at GenCon this week.

Sci Fi Drinking Songs

2. Sci Fi Drinking Songs and Other Shows at GenCon

I have a new set list for my Irish Drinking Songs for Cat Lovers show at GenCon. I haven't played many hour-long cat shows. The felt rather rusty at Good Mews in Atlanta last month. I was forgetting lyrics. I've been practicing songs and mentally planning what my show will look like. I like to do that with all my shows these days.

The cat songs are just one of three shows I have this week. The others are Firefly Drinking Songs and Sci Fi Drinking Songs. The Firefly show has gotten pretty tight and more fun than ever, especially with the new song "Reavers, Malcolm, Reavers". The Sci Fi show is a bit new this year. However, I can't wait to share my newest album in a live show.

So far, only a couple people emailed me how much they love the new CD. My friend Jimmy even said "A Boy and His Frog" brought a tear to his eye. Though I have to pass the kudos on to the song's author Tom Smith. I hope everyone who now owns the album is enjoying it tremendously.

When I get back from GenCon, I will jump back into promoting the CD. The album officially goes on sale on September 8, 2014.

3. Marc Gunn Live Streaming Concert on August 24th

After my last Concert Window performance, numerous viewers said they wanted a monthly concert. I don't know if I can pull off a monthly show. My schedule won't quite allow it. But I hope to do more shows. The next is scheduled for Sunday, August 24th at 7PM CST.

Remember, you can tune in from anywhere in the world. The show is by donation. You are welcome to donate any amount that makes you happy. I hope you will watch it. Then you can join me for a beautiful evening of Celtic and Geek music.

Find all the details and sign up to be reminded about the concert at http://marcgunn.com/concertwindow.

IMPORTANT: The webshow will not be recorded – it's offered in real time. So don't miss this world debut event on Concert Window. Check out the Facebook event. Then please share it with the world.

4. Concert Updates: Maryland Tour Confirmed

I just confirmed two performances in October. The first is Friday, October 10th in Woodbine, Maryland. The second is Saturday, October 11th in Reston, Virginia. There's a third show on Sunday, but I still have no details about that.

The Brobdingnagian Bards will be performing multiple shows at DragonCon this year. The first is on Friday during the big Filk Comedy Music Showcase. We go on around 11:30, I believe. After that one late night show, all our other shows happen before 9PM. I'm kinda psyched about that. You can check our latest performance schedule here: http://thebards.net/dragoncon/

We're just over one month away until ALEP (A Long Expected Party). This gathering of fans of JRR Tolkien, the Hobbit, and Lord of the Rings is gonna be just amazing. I'm not sure how many tickets are availalble, but I stongly urge you to go. I will be performing every day of the event. Find details at http://alep-ky.us/

I am finally officially confirmed to perform at the Louisiana Renaissance Festival. I am confirmed for all six weekends, plus school days. The only day I will NOT be there is the very first day. Then I will be performing in the brand new pub that the festival is building. Here's hoping for an awesome new music venue at the faire.http://www.larf.net/

I hope you had a great summer. Lets get back to making some insanely awesome music. Thanks for being a part of my journey.
