Marc's Musings

Greetings

I just looked at my calendar and realized that Monday, September 8th is the official CD release date of my next album Sci Fi Drinking Songs. I haven't done nearly enough to promote this exciting event. I just have far too many things on my mind, including a Song of the Week, new podcasts and videos, and more. I have a LOT to share in today's issue of the Marc's Musings.

Sci Fi Drinking Songs

1. Sci Fi Drinking Songs

The new album will officially be released Monday, September 8th. The first day of any release is extremely important. The more sales I get on that day, the more likely the album will climb the charts on CD Baby, iTunes or Amazon.

The biggest of those is iTunes, of course. A chart hit there will make an incredible impact on the album's future success. How long will it stay as the top search term for "drinking songs"? That depends on how many people buy it that first day.

One of the great things about the album is the title. It attracts attention. It makes people laugh. Anyone who sees the title, will check it out. So please help me out. If you haven't bought a copy yet, get it on one of those sites. If you're uncertain which, then buy it on iTunes.

And of course, please help spread the word throughout the day. Talk about the CD. You can even use the hashtag #SciFiDrinkingSongs.

If you already own it. Post a review on one of those websites so others know how much you love it.

Now take a minute and Listen to "Doctor of Gallifrey" on YouTube. Another video will be up shortly.

2. Another Great Weekend at DragonCon with Brobdingnagian Bards

Andrew and I had a spectacular weekend in Atlanta. We had some packed shows. The Hobbit Drinking Songs show brought 500 people into a lecture room and turned away 200. Our solo show had a couple hundred people, and over half had never heard our music before. I even passed a camera around at the show. I can't wait to download those pictures and share some of the bizarre shots from the concert.

Oh! And my Firefly Drinking Songs concert was a hit too. The filk room was filled to capacity. We turned away a hundred people.

My final performance was part of the Pub Songs Podcast Live. That show was streamed live on YouTube. You can watch it here. There's a special guest who shows up at the end.

Finally, I recorded a bunch of interviews for The Celtic Geek podcast. They're a lot of fun. Don't miss even one!

3. Irish Drinking Songs for Cat Lovers Live on September 21

I made a big announcement at the end of last month. My next Concert Window performance will be dedicated to the cat lover. I will perform songs from Irish Drinking Songs for Cat Lovers and Whiskers in the Jar during this incredible live streaming concert performance.

If you love my cat songs, you don't want to miss this show. Go to http://marcgunn.com/concertwindow and spread the word.

4. Song of the Week and Patronage

My other big announcement was the Song of the Week Challenge. I want to write more music. So every week, I plan to write and record another song and share it with my new Patrons over at Patreon. This website is rapidly becoming one of my favorite tools online for sharing content.

You can become a member for just $1 a month, and when you do, you will gain access to my activity feed where I will share song lyrics, blogs, and info exclusive to you. This is a great way to support the music and entertainment I create. Sign up at www.marcgunn.net.

5. Misc Bits of Good

September is National Prostate Cancer Awareness Month. Any time you buy any of my Celtic compilation CDs this month, profits will go to Kilted to Kick Cancer, a non-profit educating people about prostate cancer. You can find out more about the organization and make a donation by going to kiltedtokickcancer.org. I'll have more about it all month.

The Bards Comic was started many years ago. One of the characters in the comic is me, Marc Gunn. I'm a founding, um, member of the webcomic. You can be imortalized in comic form and get a physical copy of the comic when you support Nikki O'Shea's Kickstarter for the Bards Comic Deluxe Compilation.

Finally, I am clearancing the last of the Monahan's Mudder's Milk t-shirts. At last check, there were just 2 medium shirts and 3 large shirts left in stock. Help me empty my shelves. Buy a shirt today!

Thank you for supporting my music. There's more blogs and a bunch of new podcasts and videos listed below. That should keep you busy and entertained for a while! :-D
