Extraordinary parents and kids facing devastating decisions with the determination to make things better. It sounds like the plot for a heartwarming movie with an inspiring ending, but instead these are the real-life encounters I found when I became a genetic counselor. Parents fighting through their pain, frustration, and sadness to get their children the best care possible, but then, after their children passed away, continuing the fight for everyone else.
I am honored to be on the KrabbeConnect board that is composed of this exact group of amazing individuals. One day, I was listening to these awesome parents brainstorming on how to completely take their major fundraiser virtual. Their dedication and commitment to improving the lives for others facing a diagnosis of Krabbe disease was inspiring. I realized that these warriors needed a rallying cry or a fight song.
After the call, I wrote some lyrics and asked my coworker (Allison Foley) for her thoughts and edits. When we were happy with the words, I asked for help from the TRUE musical genius Marc Gunn. He brought our lyrics to life and I couldn’t be happier with what emerged.
Together (KrabbeConnect) conveys the passion of the Krabbe team and the goal we all have to #CureKrabbe.
