Fun Celtic Music, the Traditional and the Twisted Marc Gunn is a rhythm and folk musician inspired by Celtic culture, science fiction, fantasy, and cats. He breathes new life into the autoharp, which continues to surprise musical veterans and fans a like for it’s unique sound and spirited energy. It’s Celtic music, the traditional and the twisted. Marc's MusingsGreetings Snow overwhelmed much of the South last week. When they predicted it, I thought, "How cool it will be to see snow fall outside my work window." I was right. It was cool. Then I went to pick up Kenzie from daycare. My car couldn't drive up the steep, ice-covered street that led out of my neighborhood. I slid down the street ten times before I drove back home and walked about five miles to retrieve my daughter. It was one heck of an adventure! Stuck at home, I made a wee bit o'progress on booking, at long last. My gig calendar has a lot of new dates on it. What Are My Favorite Venues?Someone asked me recently, "What are your favorite venues to play?" It took me a week to think about that. I realized my absolute favorite venues are house concerts, followed by Sci Fi conventions. All else pale in comparison. I decided to try and focus a little more on those two venues for this year. I know I have two great new Celtic CDs--Scottish Songs of Drinking & Rebellion and How America Saved Irish Music. With those albums, I really hope some Celtic festivals will reach out to book me. But for me, I want to focus on the venues where my Gunn Runners gather. Sci Fi Conventions attract Rennies, geeks, cat lovers, and Celts. It's the ultimate venue for making new Gunn Runners. Plus, I have a blast at them. House concerts are just amazing. I love the personal nature of those shows. My hope is to inspire more Gunn Runners to open up their homes for a life changing concert. If you live within 300 miles of Birmingham, Alabama OR you know groups of Gunn Runners in your area. I bet we could work together to make one killer tour that will make it worthwhile to fly and play for you. All you have to do is show an interest. Talk to me. Let's make something amazing happen. As always, I wan to thank you SO much for caring about me and my music. You are AWESOME! Slainte! PS. How America Saved Irish Music is at 48% of its funding goal. I will close up pre-orders tomorrow, Tuesday, February 4th. So if you want any of the special gifts, if you want to help me out on my newest album, if you want to bring a smile to both our faces, please pre-order the album today.
