Marc's MusingsGreetings What a couple o'weeks! A little over a week ago, I flew back to Texas for Sherwood Forest Faire. The first weekend was cold and slow with attendance. But it was good to back. It felt almost like the first year of performing at the faire. Everything seemed to run smoother. My regular show were awesome and fun. The stories I told were more natural with less stammering. It just felt good to be back. I did something extra special this year for my cat fans. The last show of each faire day, at 4:15pm, is the Cat Show. All the fans of Irish Drinking Songs for Cat Lovers show up at my stage to meow along with me. The response is absolutely incredible. In fact, a man was watching the show, extremely uncomfortable through the entire performance. Afterward, he approached me and said, "When I was a kid, if I had done what you just did, my four brothers would've beaten me to a pulp." He then proceeded to tell me how amazing it was that I stood up there and did something so bizarre, that he wanted to change his life and stand up for what he believed in no matter how bizarre." It was a life changing performance. That's indicative how the first two weekends of faire were for me. The world sort of lifted its head and said, "Relax and enjoy a great season at faire." And I have. Even when the week took a different turn. Last Monday, I realized one of my main websites, Song Henge, my music and podcast fan club, was down. That led to an emergency freak out as I tried to get it back online. It's still not up, but thanks to Jan C., I now have all the members in a database. I just need to get the site back online so I can get these folks re-added. On Thursday and Friday, I ran a flash sale on Facebook. I was going through all my stuff in my dad's attic. I found comic books and swords, and Dungeons & Dragons books, modules, and Star Wars toys. It was a fun blast to the past for me and apparently others. I had a number of people approach me last weekend to tell me what a treat it was to see all of this stuff from their past. I successfully sold a lot of it. However, I still have my Star Wars cards if anyone wants to buy them! (email me) I also made progress on Sci Fi Drinking Songs. There are several new songs written and recorded. It's looking like a killer lineup of geeky songs. I also have possibly TWO incredible guest musicians who may end up on the CD... But you'll have to wait until I get something confirmed. Help America Top the Charts TomorrowTomorrow is the big day. I'd like you to buy How America Saved Irish Music on Amazon. If enough people buy the album on the same day, I could have a #1 hit on my hands. That's why I'm focusing on just Amazon. I want all the sales on ONE website. So if you don't own the album, please buy the physical or digital copy through Amazon. If you already own it, you can buy a copy for a friend, or just buy "Men of New Basin Canal" as a single. Both will help the album top the charts higher. Thank you once again for all your support of my music and all of your awesomeness. You rock, Celtic Geek-style! Slainte! PS. "Rising of the Moon" from Not Every Day Is St. Patrick's Day was nominated in the Celtic Radio Music Awards. You can help me win Best Roots Traditional. But I need your vote. Go to the Poll and vote for me. You will need to join the Celtic Radio forums to vote, but it's well-worth it and you'll also be able to help me again in the future on the largest Celtic radio station online. Please VOTE!
