Marc Gunn Sings Cat Songs Tmrw! |
Marc's MusingsGreetings Let me start by thanking you. Sci Fi Drinking Songs was a HUGE hit on iTunes or Amazon where it topped the charts climbing to #9 for World music on iTunes and #1 for British & Celtic Folk as well as for Traditional Folk. It topped the charts even though I pre-sold over 200 copies of the album on Kickstarter. That, my friends, is amazing! It just goes to show the power of social networking. There were a ton of people sharing the album and resharing all of my promotions on that day. My high-ranking kept me in the top 20 until the following day as well. To each and every one of you, I thank you! 1. Irish Drinking Songs for Cat Lovers Live on September 21Tomorrow evening is the big day. I will perform my first ever, live streaming concert of cat songs. This show is just for you who are also a part of the Demented Cat Game. I have an exciting evening planned featuring a whole bunch of songs from both of my cat albums. I even have a brand new, song that I will play. I wrote it this week as part of my Song of the Week Challenge. It will debut at the concert this week. I even made updates to the Irish Drinking Songs for Cat Lovers website for the first time in a few years. You can download some free Cat MP3s and join the Cat Drinking Tails mailing list (you may need to resubscribe) at http://www.catdrinkingsongs.com/cat-concert.shtml Remember. This show will NOT be recorded. So don't miss it tomorrow night. That's Sunday, Sept 21, 2014 at 7:30PM central standard time. Sign up to be reminded about it at http://marcgunn.com/concertwindow. And please, please spread the word.
2. Song of the Week Challenge ContinuesThis was a tough week. I didn't know if I was gonna be able to write something. I nearly gave up, when a small fragment of an idea blossomed into a full-fledged song last night. This one is based on the "Mingulay Boat Song" from my album Scottish Songs of Drinking & Rebellion. It's dedicated to all those cats who like to knock over glasses of water (and other liquid) in your home. It's the reason I mostly drink from water bottles these days. Songwriting last week was totally awesome. Again, I started the week with writer's block. But then an idea formed. I wrote a completely original song called "You Wrote Your Name on My Soul". I LOVE to sing it. That's always a good sign. AND it's also a GREAT sing-along. Even better! I am hoping to have it ready for my show at the Pepper's Place Farmer's Market this weekend, but I'm not sure I'll have time to memorize it. We shall see... You can hear the song in this week's episode of The Celtic Geek. I was so excited about it. I had to share. http://marcgunn.com/celticgeek052 If you want to be on top of all my new songs and creations, then become a patron. Find out more at www.marcgunn.net.
3. Update Your Contact InfoOh! If you scroll to the bottom of this email, you'll see a link to "Update Your Contact Info". This info is not required for you to read my newsletters. However, it is super useful for helping me to better communicate with you. Did you know that in October, I will be performing in Maryland and Virginia? At the end of the month, I will exclusively contact people who live in those areas to tell them about my house concerts. In order to get those emails, you need to update your contact info saying where you live. If you do so, and live in that area, you'll be notified. It's simple and will only take 2 minutes of your time. So please do so today.
Thank you Gunn Runner for being a part of my musical career. Slainte!
