The votes are in for my poll of which CD should I record next. The winning CD was Scottish Songs of Drinking & Rebellion. I've talked about that album for a few years now. I'm glad that you are interested in hearing it too. So I started planning my Kickstarter campaign. It will go live next month.
But wait!
If you voted for the filk album, I have good news for you too. I don't want to do two fundraisers. So I'm hoping you will help raise money for BOTH albums next month.
Here's how it will work. I need to raise about $4000 to finish recording the Scottish CD how I want it done. The filk CD will only require about $2000. So I plan to add that as a Stretch Goal. That means…
IF I raise $4000,
AND I also raise an additional $2000,
THEN I will release BOTH CDs at the same time.
Or if not at the same time, people who contribute can potentially get both CDs. And of course, there will be a bunch of added bonuses for those who really want to see his happen as much as I do.
I will also run this campaign directly through Kickstarter. That means that if I don't reach my goals, then neither of these albums will happen, and I will try again next year.
So what can you expect on these two CDs?
Below are the songs I am considering for Scottish Songs of Drinking & Rebellion:
Flower of Scotland
Green Grow the Rashes O
Barnyards of Delgaty
Loch Lomond
Mairi's Wedding
Skye Boat Song
Ye Jacobites
Corrie Doon
Auld Lang Syne
Cam Ye By Atholl
Drunken Scotsman
I'm A Rover Seldom Sober
Leezie Lindsay
MacPhearson's Farewell
Scots Wha Hae
There Are No Pubs in Kirkkintilloch
Ye Canna Shove Yer Granny
A Man's A Man For A' That
As for the unnamed filk CD, here are some of the studio recorded tracks I am considering for it:
Doctor of Gallifrey
La La La
The Smial or the Tree
Free Brains
Jedi Prequel
Browncoats Keep Flyin'
O Susannah
As you can see, I have a LOT of work on this track this track list. Originally, I planned on including some cover songs along with some traditional Celtic songs. I haven't decided yet. I'm starting to think I might save those for a more ballad-filled album… I'll let you know.
As for album titles, I have a few thoughts. Let me know if any spark your imagination:
- Sci Fi Drinking Songs
- Celtic Geek
- May the Furrs Be With You
- The Celtfather
Again, let me know your thoughts. I'll let you know what I decide.
