Another big change is coming to the Pub Songs & Stories.
First, I love the new format. I was still fine tuning it. Here's what I love about it.
- I love that it has manageable seasons.
- I love that I share one of my stories.
- I love that I also share a story from a fellow Celtic musician in my community.
- I love that I share stories from local businesses in my community.
- I love that it works really well for promoting myself on Facebook.
However, it's not doing all that I hoped it would.
- I don't promote it like I would if it was my only podcast.
- It doesn't have as big appeal as did the the Irish & Celtic Music Podcast.
- It doesn't seem to help me make new Patrons.
- It's also not growing. I'm not getting new listeners. In fact, listenership is down from this time last year.
- And ultimately, it takes away from time I should be spending working on music.
So I've come to the decision that Pub Stories will become a private podcast exclusively available on Patreon. It will just be an update, a story, and a song. I will continue publishing the show in a spring and fall season. I may also publish one episode to the main feed. But we'll see. I'm gonna try it out in the next episode.
Celtic Stories will be a new feature of the Irish & Celtic Music Podcast. Once or twice a month, I'll include a story in an episode of the podcast. For the music-only Song Hengers, there'll be a standalone podcast as well to get a little bit more background on a story in the show.
I know several of you have expressed joy for the new show. I'm right there with you. But every now and then, I find myself swamped, not doing other things that bring me joy. I'm left wondering, why do I keep adding more stuff on to my plate instead of working on stuff I also know and love. This change hopefully will recenter me.
So thank you, thank you, thank you for following the podcast!
And if you enjoy my stories, please subscribe to the Gunn Runners Club on Patreon so I can keep sharing them with you.
