My mom moved to Italy in 1985. I fell in love with Europe on my first trip to visit her. It was like LIVE Dungeons & Dragons for me.
However, it was not until 2007 that I finally went to Ireland with the Brobdingnagian Bards. We rode on a giant tour bus. It was an “on again, off again” tour. We saw a lot, but I remember little. By the end of the trip, I was exhausted.
It was those frustrations that fueled the start of my own travel company–Celtic Invasion Vacations.
The concept is simple. We have a small group. We stay in one area. We don't see everything. We get to know a region through its culture, history, and legends.
Mark Twain wrote: “Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime.”
That's been my travel philosophy for many years now. I want to experience a place. Not just see it. And I want to share it with others.
So every June, I take a small group of people with me for the relaxing vacation of a lifetime.
If you like structure and want everything handed to you, this is not the trip for you. This is for folks who want to kick back and relax, laugh, smile, and be part of the culture.
It's not just to Ireland either. We go anywhere.
We've already been to Ireland, Scotland, France, Italy, Cornwall and more. It's not about the location. It's about the people. It's about friendship. It's about community.
I'd hope you can join me on a Celtic Invasion Vacation one day.
What's the best place you've been?
Where would you like to travel to?
Slainte!
